What to Expect on Session Day

5 min read

Most people feel some nervousness before a session — it's completely normal. Here's exactly what happens, so you know what to expect and can show up feeling ready.

01Before you arrive

I'll send a confirmation message the day before with the exact meeting point, parking notes, and any last-minute tips.

Eat beforehand. Don't skip a meal to "look thinner" — you'll feel better and more relaxed with food in you.

Arrive a few minutes early. Not because we'll start immediately, but because arriving rushed affects your energy for the first 15 minutes.

02The first 10 minutes

We'll walk and talk. I'll ask about your day, how you're feeling, what you're hoping to get from the session. We'll move toward the light while getting comfortable.

I won't start shooting immediately. These first minutes are warm-up — for both of us.

The best images almost never come in the first 10 minutes. Give yourself permission to ease in.

03During the session

I direct with small prompts rather than poses. Walk this way. Whisper something. Look away, then back. These prompts create natural movement and real reactions.

I'll let you know when I'm getting something good. You won't need to guess or perform.

Sessions are unhurried. There's no hard timeline that I'm rushing toward.

04After the session

You'll receive 5–10 preview images within 48 hours. These are lightly processed — a preview of the tone and feel of your gallery.

Your full edited gallery arrives within 2 weeks. Each image is individually edited — never batch processed.

Images are delivered via a private online gallery. You can download full-resolution files directly.

05A note on nervousness

Almost everyone is nervous before a session. Almost everyone forgets they're nervous within 15 minutes.

You don't need to look a certain way, pose a certain way, or be good at this. That's my job. Your job is to show up.
